Amblyopia

Two weeks ago we received a call from Whitney encouraging us to take Lillie to the eye doctor. She mentioned that after reading our blog and seeing Lillie's left eye she saw a white spot, usually we see red, right? Long story short, I took Lillie in and after an eye evaluation the doctor said she has a condition called amblyopia, also known as a lazy eye. Lillie has severe farsightedness, basically seeing a blur. Her brain has overcompensating and she has only been using her right eye. We have been referred to a specialist where she will have two 90 minute evaluations the first to test the eye the second to see how her brain is responding to only one eye working. Now begins, as we were told YEARS of eye therapy. She may be wearing a patch at times and glasses, but the doctor said we could probably do a contact in one eye ind stead of the thick lenses, AKA bottle cap. Needless to say we felt very blessed that Whit noticed the problem!!!! She could of gone several more years without it being detected, lessening her chances of recovery! It was a lot to take in!
