Things were getting a little boring around the Whiting home. Patten decided he needed to go to the emergency room with phantom appendicitis. After being evaluated by the ER Doctor he was rushed to the children's hospital for and emergency appendectomy. We had to go to the children's hospital because he was not yet twelve, the doctor felt a little embarrassed about the hospital policy since Patten was bigger than the doctor. In Austin, no hospital will perform surgery on peds. Patten will be twelve on April 11. Needless to say we arrived at Dell's children's hospital at 8pm and left at 2am. Patten didn't have appendicitis he had a viral infection called mesentery.....something! So anytime Patten would eat it would cause excruciating pain on his right side. He didn't eat for three days alarming us all. At first we thought it was just a flu bug, but then he didn't get any better and he didn't have any other symptoms. By the third day we were getting worried, hence the trip to the ER. After being evaluated by three doctors they all said appendicitis, then the cat scan came back and then they decided no. They sent him home and he had a jello and Gatorade diet until the virus passed.
Poor Patten! No fun being sick. I don't think it will stunt anything though. What are you eating these days? Porkchops three meals a day? You are HUGE! Thats how we breed em'!
