Winter Wonderland-Texas Style

School Canceled due to extreme weather! Now you folks in the west can't laugh at us because we were in the teens!!!! The kids were thrilled with the snow and the neighborhood kids came out of the wood works to play. We had about twelve boys here having snow fights. We are no longer equipped with snow gear and the boys literally froze theirs hands, but it didn't slow them down one bit.

Last week was the coldest we have seen it here in Texas, 17 degrees! Well, our pipes froze. So, Curtis and I went outside and started pouring hot water on the faucet hoping to thaw it. Nothing happened after several attempts. We wrapped the facet with insulation and left it wide open. The next morning when Mackenzie got picked up at 5:45 am for seminary we noticed that water was shooting from the facet, how long it was running we had no idea! We were just feeling grateful that the pipe had not burst, we were happy for the ice instead of the alternative. Nelson played outside as long as he could to protect his ice from any poachers!

  1. I remember when it snowed in Dallas on Thanksgiving years ago. It's a different kind of cold. 30 down there feels like 0 here.
